Elaine Thompson and Asafa Powell among headliners at Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet

Elaine Thompson and Asafa Powell are two of the headline acts at the 2018 staging of the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet at the National Stadium.

Thompson, who has been confirmed for the Müller Indoor Grand Prix in Glasgow on February 25, will contest the women’s 60m event alongside training partner Christania Williams and quarter-miler Shericka Jackson.

Powell will contest the men’s equivalent where he will face the likes of 2014 Commonwealth Games 200m gold medallist Rasheed Dwyer.

Beijing 2008 silver medallist Sherone Simpson, who returns to the track after childbirth, lines up in the women’s 200m alongside Sasha Lee Forbes, Natasha Morrison, Tifanny James, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Melaine Walker and Ristananna Tracy.

Action in the men’s 200m sees Warren Weir and Michael O’Hara facing the likes of Rusheen McDonald, Jevere Bell and Zharnel Hughes.

The women’s 400m will be contested by Kaliese Spencer and Christine Day while Deuce Carter and Ronald Levy are the main headliners in the men’s 60m hurdles.

The meet gets underway at 8:30 am with action in the boys’ class three 400 metres.

Following the 400-metre events will be the 800 metres, which are open events.

The remaining track events are the hurdles (70m, 80m and 100m and 110m); 200m; 60m invitational races; 100m invitational races and the 4x400m relays.

In addition, there will be field events, including the triple jump, discus, long jump, high jump and the shot put.

Over 2200 athletes are down to compete at the event which is serves as a qualifier for the world indoor championships in March.
