Reigning Olympic champion Elaine Thompson produced a podium finish in the women’s 200m before returning to anchor a Jamaican team to victory in the women’s 4x100m at the IAAF Diamond League Meeting in Zurich.

Thompson, who returned to winning ways in Birmingham on Sunday over 100m following her disappointing 5th place finish at the World Championships, ran well for a second place finish over the half lap sprint in a time of 22.00s.

The event was won by Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas in a new personal best and national record 21.88 seconds.

Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast was third in 22.09s while Simone Facey – the other Jamaican in the race – ended down the track in 7th in 22.80 seconds.

Meanwhile the quarter of Christiania Williams, Jura Levy, Facey and Thompson on anchor captured the women’s 4x100m race in 41.85 seconds.

They finished ahead of Great Britan, Germany, Switzerland and the United States.

Former world record holder Asafa Powell had a disappointing return to the track after finishing 7th in the men’s 100m event.

Powell, who missed out on making the Jamaican team for the World Championships in London due to injury, posted a time of 10.11 seconds.

The race was won by CJ Ujah of Great Britain in a season best 9.97 seconds.

World champion Justin Gatlin was 4th in 10.04.

Action in the women’s 100 meter hurdles saw Danielle Williams posting 12.73 seconds for 4th place behind race winner world champion Sally Pearson of Australia who ran 12.55 seconds.

Mo Farah, in the meantime, won a thrilling 5000m in the final track race of his career.

Farah, chased down in the final 100m by new world champion Muktar Edris of Ethiopia, won narrowly in a time of 13:06.05 seconds.
