Elaine Thompson finishes third and Natoya Goule runs new national record at Monocao Diamond League

Sprint double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson was a third place finisher in the women’s 100 metres at the IAAF Monocao Diamond league meeting on Friday.

The MVP track club athlete clocked 11.02 seconds,  behind the Ivory Coast pair of Marie Josee Ta Lou  who won in 10.89 seconds and Murielle Ahoure’ in 11.01 seconds.

National champion Natoya Goule ran a new national record in finishing third in the women’s 800 metres.

Goule posted 1minute 56 .15 seconds which is also a new personal best. The race was won by the South African Caster Semenya in a meet record 1 minute 54.60 seconds.

2012 Olympic bronze medalist Hansle parchment finished fourth in the men’s 110 hurdles event, in a season best 13. 21 seconds, the race won by Sergey Shubenkov running as a neutral athlete in 13. 07 seconds.

Another Jamaican in Yanique Thompson finished third in the women’s 100 metres hurdles.

In a creditable 12.92 seconds, behind 2008 Olympic champion Dawn Harper Nelson of the USA 12.90 second, with the race going to another American Queen Harrison with a sizzling 12.64 seconds.

The other Jamaican in the race Crystal Williams was last in 13.36 seconds.

Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech smashed the 3,000metres steeplechase world record.

Meanwhile the 27-year-old ran eight minutes 44.33 seconds to beat the 8:52.78 set by Bahrain’s Ruth Jebet two years ago.
