Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson headlines a five member Jamaican cast who are down to participate at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea meet in Rome – the latest stop in the IAAF Diamond League series on Thursday. 

Thompson will face off with triple European champion Dina Asher smith over 100 meters as the pair renew rivalry alongside world silver medallist Marie Jose Talou of the Ivory Coast, two time us champion English Gardener, and Shanghai 100 meters winner Alecia Hobbs also of the USA.

Commonwealth champion Janieve Russell will once again square off with Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad and world champion Kori carter of the USA and European champion lea Sprunger of Switzerland.

Olympic bronze medallist Shericka Jackson and her Jamaican teammate Stephanie Ann McPherson are down to contest the women’s 400m where they will face world silver medallist Salwa Eid Naser, Hof Bahrain, world indoor champion Courtney Okolo and European champion Justyna Swiety-Ersetic.

The other Jamaican down to take part is former Commonwealth Games champion O’dayne Richards who is down to compete in the men’s shot put event.
