Elaine Thompson headlines the Paris Diamond League meeting on July 1

Jamaica’s double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson headlines the Paris Diamond League meeting on July 1.

Thompson who has a world leading 10.78 seconds over the 100 meters, also ran a world leading and meet record 22.09 seconds to capture the women’s 200 meters event at the Jamaica Invitational meet on Saturday.

She will be joined by another Jamaican in Olympic 110 hurdles champions Omar McLeod in the meet which comes a little more than a month ahead of the August 4-13 World Athletics Championships in London.

Meanwhile, two-time Olympic gold medalist Christian Taylor is set for the triple jump, while Ethiopian world champion Genzebe Dibaba will race Kenya’s Olympic champion faith Kipyegon in what promises to be a keenly-fought women’s 1500metres.

An innovative triathlon of a 110m hurdles, long jump and javelin event is also on the programme.
