Elaine Thompson runs world leading time at Shanghai Diamond League meeting

Olympic sprint double champion Elaine Thompson ran away with the women’s 100 meters at the Shanghai Diamond League meeting in China in a world leading 10.78 seconds this morning.

Veronica Campbell-Brown was sixth in 11.23 seconds, as Christania Williams was 8th in 11.23 seconds.

Season leader and Olympic champion Omar McLeod won the men’s 110 hurdles in 13.09 seconds. Another Jamaican Hansle Parchment was fourth in 13.35 seconds.

Ansert Whyte finished 7th in the men’s 400 meters hurdles in 50.18 seconds, the event was won by Berhsawn Jackson of the United States, who stopped the clock in a new meet record of 48.63 seconds.

Olympic champion Shaune Miller -Uibo of the Bahamas maintained her good season form in taking the women’s 400 meters in 49.77 seconds, Novelene Williams -mills was the best placed Jamaica as she finished fifth in 51.45 seconds, ahead of Aneisha McLaughlin -Wilby 51.63 seconds, as Stephanie Ann McPherson faded to seventh in 51.97 seconds.
