Elaine Thompson to miss this Saturday’s Diamond League Meeting in Shanghai

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson is set to miss this Saturday’s Diamond League Meeting in shanghai due to injury.

Thompson was a third place finisher over 100 meters in the first Diamond League meet this season in Doha and according to organisers Thompson is dealing with physical issues which will prevent her from participating.

Organisers also confirmed that new world 60 meters champion and record holder Christian Coleman is set to miss Saturday’s high-profile 100 race due to “precautionary reasons.

The race would have been world championship 100 meters silver medalist first individual outdoor competition after a superb indoor season in which he set the 60m world record and won the world championship.

Even without Coleman, who ran the fastest 100m of 2017, the shanghai race is expected to be an early season highlight.

U.S. world 100m champion Justin Gatlin, Canadian triple Olympic medallist Andre de Grasse and china’s 60m silver medallist Su Bingtian are all entered in the race, along with surprise world 200m gold medallist Ramil Guliyev of Turkey and 2017 British Diamond League 100 meters winner CJ Ujah.
