Electricity restored to more communities following passage of Tropical Storm Grace

by August 19th, 2021

More customers should have had their electricity supply restored last night, as Jamaica Public Service teams worked into the night, (August 18).

Up to six last evening, just under 60,000 customers were without power, down from 100,000 yesterday morning.

JPSCorporate Communications Director Winsome Callum says teams worked throughout yesterday to complete damage assessment and did critical repair work.

Last night, the focus was on energizing the lines that were repaired.

Customers in Kingston and St. Andrew, Hanover, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, St. James, Westmoreland, Clarendon, St. Ann, St. Catherine and Trelawny should have had supplies returned overnight.

Ms. Callum notes that some customers will remain without electricity, as teams could not complete all the restoration work yesterday, because of the extent of the damage in some areas.
