Entertainers celebrate Miss World 2019

Popcaan, Spice, Bounty Killer, Shaggy, Spragga Benz, Koffee, Agent Sasco, Mr.Lexx, Christopher Martin, Queen Ifrica, Romain Virgo, Kranium, Cecile, Wayne Marshall, and Tessanne Chin, are some of the entertainers who have shared congratulatory messages on social media to celebrate Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh who was crowned Miss World 2019.

Minister of Culture, Entertainment, Gender Affairs and Sports, Olivia Babsy Grange, Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Opposition Leader Peter Phillips, former Miss World Lisa Hanna, former Miss Universe Runners Up, Yendi Phillips, Kaci Fennell, and Davina Bennett, along with track stars Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, are also among the popular Jamaican public figures with congratulatory posts on social media.

On Saturday morning, 23-year-old St. Thomas born Toni-Ann Singh, from a field of one hundred and eleven contestants, walked away with the oldest beauty crown in the World, at the 69th staging of the Miss World Beauty With A Purpose Pageant in London, ending a 26-year drought since 1993, giving Jamaica its 4th title.

Popcaan who hails from St. Thomas said, “a total different light shining on St. Thomas parish, and it makes me very happy to see someone else from the parish flourishing and making us all proud.”

Toni-Ann Singh who minutes before receiving her crown delivered a tantalizing rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing’, told Piers Morgan after her victory, that she is now ready to do the work. When asked if she would also consider a career in music, she said: “If a door opens, I will walk through it.”

Toni-Ann further thanked all of Jamaica, her family, friends, and all supporters, in a series of lengthy heart-warming posts across her social media pages.

Toni-Ann has dedicated the crown to all the little girls of St. Thomas, and all the girls around the world, by reminding them that no matter where they are from, or the cards they are dealt in life, their dreams are valid. The crown she says is not hers, but theirs.
