EOJ: Crawford and Vaz successfully nominated for East Portland by-election

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting that two candidates were duly nominated today (Mar 15), to contest the by-election in the East Portland constituency.

Damion Crawford was nominated as the People’s National Party (PNP) candidate, while Ann Marie Vaz will run on the Jamaica Labour Party’s ticket.

Nominations took place at the Port Antonio Court house this morning.

The EOJ says a total of 36, 315 electors are eligible to vote in the by-election.

The Electoral Office is now proceeding with its preparations for Election Day on April 4.

The East Portland seat became vacant after former MP Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield was stabbed to death at his home on February 2.

Meantime, following this morning’s nomination, the PNP candidate Damion Crwford thanked his supporters for coming out and endorsing his candidacy.

And, Ann marie Vaz said the day was a historic one for her and the people of East Portland.
