by August 28th, 2017

The police have taken one man into custody, following an operation in Pineapple Place this morning (Aug 28), during which a prisoner who escaped from the Ocho Rios lock up earlier this month was fatally shot.

Dead is 22-year-old Nicholas Massop of Pineapple Place, Ocho Rios. Police say he was killed during an alleged shoot out with them.

Police say a 9 millimetre pistol and six rounds were taken from him.

However, some residents are claiming that Massop was killed in cold blood.

Massop was one of five prisoners who escaped from the Ocho Rios lock up.

One escapee remains on the run, while three have been recaptured and charged.

According to commanding officer for St. Ann, Superintendent Gary Francis,

Massop was shot after he fired at the police who went on an operation in the Pineapple area.

He says one man was arrested for harbouring Massop.

Superintendent Francis says Massop was wanted for murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
