Farmers in sections of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland have suffered over 76 million dollars in losses, due to recent heavy rains.
Last week, heavy rains scoured the parishes, resulting in significant flood damage.
Crop and livestock farmers were among the affected persons, with hundreds losing their produce and animals.
Speaking at a press briefing today (February 8), portfolio minister, Pearnel Charles Junior said over 500 farmers were affected.
He said preliminary reports show extensive damage.
Mr. Charles Jr. said St. Mary was the worst affected parish.
He is urging farmers to practice climate smart farming.
