Federer, Durant and Kohli featured on TIME Top 100 list

Tennis icon Roger Federer, former NBA MVP Kevin Durant and cricketer Virat Kohli have been listed by TIME Magazine among the 100 Most Influential People in the world in 2018.

The list, which recognizes activism and achievements of those in influential roles, was divided into five sections Titans, Icons, Leaders, Artists, and Pioneers.

Federer, Durant and Kohli were listed among the Titans which also includes the likes of TV talk-show host and entertainment mogul Oprah Winfrey.

Federer’s entry was written by Microsoft founder Bill Gates. In it, Gates recognized Federer as tennis’ greatest player ever but also praised his charitable work.

Durant, the Golden State Warriors star, was lauded for committing $10 million to help disadvantaged children receive higher education.

Also making the Time Top 100 (in the Leaders section) was NFL star J.J Watt of the Houston Texans who used his platform to raise more than $37 million in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Other current athletes featured on the Top 100 were Olympic gold medallist Chloe Kim and figure skater Adam Rippon.

The list also included Rachael Denhollander, the former gymnast who was the first to publicly accuse former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State doctor Larry Nassar of sexual assault.
