Federic Dacres wins gold at World Challenge Meet in Zagreb

Federic Dacres’ good run of form continued on Tuesday with him producing another podium topping effort at the IAAF World Challenge Meeting in Zagreb.

Dacres, the world leader, threw a meet record 68.17 metres to capture the  men’s discuss event to follow up on his Commonwealth Games and Diamond League titles in 2018.

His compatriot Travis Smikle finished just outside the podium places, ending 4th with his best effort of 63.75m.

National champions Tyquendo Tracey and Stephanie-Ann McPherson were the other Jamaicans at the meet that made the podium.

Tracey was second in the men’s 100m where he clocked 10.18s to finish behind the American Michael Rodgers who was timed at 10.08 seconds.

The women’s equivalent saw Kerron Stewart placing 4th in 11.43s behind race winner Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast in 11.05s and Trinidad’s Michelle Lee-Ayhe (11.28s) who was first runner up.

McPherson meanwhile finished second in the women’s 400m after posting 51.20 seconds.
