Fire at Buff Bay disposal site put out

by June 9th, 2017

The smoke nuisance from the Bff Bay disposal site in Portland has dissipated.

The facility was reportedly set on fire earlier, this week.

Councillor for the Buff Bay division, Dionne Hunter, says the area is clear and she has not received any reports of persons being hurt.

Meantime, Executive Director at the National Solid Waste Management Authority (nswma), Audley Gordon, says an investigation is being conducted, to determine if the fire was the work of arsonists.

He is urging persons not to set fire to the country’s disposal sites, as such actions are costly to the government.
