The St. James Fire Brigade, and the management of Holiday Inn Montego Bay Resort, are conducting assessments following a fire at a storeroom on the hotel property, last night (Mar 1).

The cause of the fire and the estimate of loss have not yet been determined.

There is no report of injury to anyone.

Some guests at the hotel commented online, that they were scared during the incident, but praised hotel staff for their quick action in evacuating persons from Building 1, which was closest to the storeroom.

Acting Head of the St. James Fire Brigade Deputy Superintendent Rudolph Seaton said the call was received after 8:00 p.m. and 3 units responded.

He said the maintenance / storage area and some vehicles in the parking lot were damaged.
