Fire-fighters rescue residents trapped by flood waters in Browns Town

Fire-fighters were called in to rescue several residents from flood drenched homes in Browns Town, St. Ann today (Jan 15), following heavy rains.

Councillor for the Brown’s Town Division, Kim Brown Lawrence says response teams from the St. Ann Municipal Corporation have also visited the area.

The communities of Standfast, Mt. Edgcombe, Lincoln and Minard were affected.

Meantime, St. Ann Parish Disaster Coordinator, Alvin Clarke, says there are also issues with the Parsons Gully in Priory, St. Ann, which poses a danger to residents.

And residents of Thickets in Discovery Bay, St. Ann have been marooned, following flooding.

Councillor for the Dry Harbour Division Carlton Ricketts says other communities have also been affected.

Homes in the Enfield community have also been flooded.

He is urging residents to stay away from the flooded areas.

And, Thickets resident, Jean Skirvin says, residents had to rescue a man who was trapped inside his vehicle, which broke down in the flood water.
