The first group of seasonal agricultural workers for 2020 departed the island for Canada today, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s Overseas Employment Programme.

While addressing the farm workers, permanent secretary, Collette Roberts Risden said, the programme has benefited over 230,000 workers.

She encouraged the workers to be ambassadors for Jamaica, and to use the opportunity wisely.

230 workers will leave the island for Canada between today and next Monday.
