First Monkeypox patient fully recovered

by July 29th, 2022

The first Monkeypox patient has fully recovered, and has been officially released from a health facility.

Acting Regional Director of the Southern Regional Health Authority, Dr Bradley Edwards, said the male patient was released 2 days ago.

Dr Edwards said relatives of the first patient continue to be monitored.

He said one relative showed signs that were of concern and officials are awaiting the results of a confirmation test.

Meantime, the second Monkeypox patient, who is also in Clarendon, remains under quarantine, at home.

In light of concerns raised about adherence to quarantine orders, after the first patent left the hospital, Dr Edwards said the second patient does not pose a security risk.
