Five Ganja Plants Per Household

by June 21st, 2015

Justice Minister, Senator Mark Golding is reiterating that each household can possess five ganja plants under the amended Dangerous Drugs Act, commonly called The Ganja Law.

Since the enactment of the new legislation in April, many people including lawyers have wanted clarification on how the law will treat with situations where there are tenement dwellings.

Responding to questions at a recent town hall meeting, Senator Golding says in those circumstances, once the households are identified as separate and then each can possess five marijuana plants, under the law.

Senator Golding also explains that the ticketing system where people will have to pay fines for ganja possession is not yet in place.

He says this is because it is not a revenue generation mechanism for the government.

The Justice Minister says where funding will flow into the national coffers, is under the Cannabis Licensing Authority, which will grant permission to individuals and institutions in the handling of the hemp industry.
