According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Selvin Hay, firearms seizures have occurred at a rate of two per day since January, while about 34 rounds of ammunition are seized daily.

He said this represents numerous lives that have been saved by the work of the police who lessen the ability of criminals to carry out their nefarious acts.

One man, 29-year-old Daniel Grant, a maintenance worker of Mountain View Avenue, Kingston 3, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in relation to the seizure on old hope road.

He is scheduled to appear before the corporate area gun court on Friday, October 12.

In addition, two firearms (one .357 magnum revolver loaded with eight cartridges and one Carandai 9 mm pistol containing one 9 mm round of ammunition) were also seized during confrontations with the police in Upper Rock Spring district, Hanover and Petersfield, Westmoreland, respectively.
