Flash flood warning extended to other parishes

by February 2nd, 2022

The flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Ann, which came into effect on Tuesday, has been extended.

Additionally, the flash flood watch which was issued for St. Mary, Portland and St. Catherine, has been upgraded to a flash flood warning.

The warning will remain in effect until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

A flash flood warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.

The warning comes as a persistent trough continues to affect weather conditions across the island.

The MET office says satellite imagery has shown a reduction in rainfall over the past 12 hours, however forecast models continue to predict more rainfall.

The forecast is for periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms to affect mainly north-central and eastern parishes on Wednesday.
