Football’s lawmakers have officially approved the use of a fourth substitute being used in extra time, starting with the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

This comes after a detailed study and a two-year experiment…………..the International Football Association Board (IFAB) made the decision on Saturday during their landmark video assistant referees meeting in Zurich.

The overall objective was to establish whether the implementation of a fourth substitute would benefit the game and it was backed by players, coaches and administrators.
