Former Jamaica and West Indies opening batsman Xavier Marshal selected by the Tallawahs

Former Jamaica and West Indies opening batsman Xavier Marshal was selected by the Jamaica Tallawahs who completed its squad selection for this year’s staging of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the draft in London today.

Marshall who currently represents the United States was selected in the second round of the draft.

During the first round of the draft, the Tallawahs selected all-rounder and last year’s captain Andre Russell, West Indies legend Chris Gayle who makes a return after two years, Chadwick Walton, Rovman Powell, Oshane Thomas and Christopher Lamont.

Afghanistan cricketer Zahir Khan, new Zealanders Glen Philips and George worker, and Pakistani Amad butt were the international players selected.

In the second round of the draft, the Tallawahs selected Shamar Springer, Ramaal Lewis, Steven Jacobs, Derval green, Javelle Glen, Imran Khan and Xavier Marshall to complete the squad.

Meanwhile defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders retained Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Bravo and Khary Pierre, and added New Zealand seam-bowling all-rounder James Neesham and Pakistan tearaway Mohammad Hasnain to their roster while Kieron Pollard, who captained st Lucia Stars last season, has moved to his home franchise TKR.

The Hero Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to run from September 4 to October 12.
