Former police commissioner Owen Ellington is to be recommended to cabinet to chair the Transport Authority board.

Transport minister Daryl Vaz disclosed today that he will be bringing the matter to Cabinet in short order.

Mr. Vaz revealed the proposal to transport stakeholders at a transportation conference today under the theme “Modernizing public transportation for a sustainable future”.

The conference was organised by the Transport Authority.

Mr. Ellington was appointed acting police commissioner in 2009, was confirmed in the post in 2010 and retired in July 2014.
