Foster Allen joins NSC/ PEP review committee

Former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Elaine Foster-Allen, has agreed to sit on the National Standards Curriculum / Primary Exit Profile review committee.

The NSC/PEP review committee is tasked with reviewing curriculum materials and test items along with the overall administration of the NSC and PEP for improvement.

The group comprises six teachers who were selected by the Jamaica Teachers Association, other distinguished educators, representatives of the parents association and the church.

Mrs. Foster-Allen, who is chairperson of the People’s National Party education and training re-imagined commission, was invited to join the committee during a recent meeting with officials from the Education Ministry.

Opposition Spokesman on Education Reverend Ronald Thwaites and Principal of Padmore Primary School Keisha Hayle, also attended the meeting.

The Education Ministry said the meeting facilitated discussions over concerns about the PEP.

Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid said he outlined to Reverend Thwaites and his colleagues, the state of operations regarding the preparations for PEP.

He said suggestions were put forward by the team from the opposition, to which the ministry agreed to review, subject to consultation with all stakeholders.
