Four Haitian nationals who landed by boat in Portland this morning have been quarantined.
Residents spotted them near a fishing village in St. Margaret’s Bay, sometime after 10 o’clock and summoned the police.
The men were picked up by the marine police and taken to the marina for medical checks and processing.
They were said to be severely dehydrated, weak, and hungry.
Head of the Portland police Superintendent Dwayne Wellington said investigators are checking reports that there were 10 persons on the boat.
He said immigration officials have begun processing the Haitians.
