Sunshine Girls star goal-shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid has become the first player to score over 300 goals this season in the Suncorp Super Netball League.

She achieved the feat after notching a game-high 53 goals to lead the West Coast Fever to a hard-fought 63-61 win in the top of the table round six clash against Giants Netball in Perth.

Fowler-Reid, who converted 95 percent of her attempts including last two goals of the match to seal a result that was still up in the air until the final seconds, now leads the league with 321 goals which is 86 more than her closest rival Caitlin Bassett of defending champions Sunshine Coast Lightning.

The top of the table Fever meanwhile improved to 35 points while Giants Netball remained second on 28 on goal difference ahead of the reigning title holders.

After losing their first three games of the season, the Lightning are now firmly back in the mix for a place in the finals after battling to a tense 64-56 win over a Melbourne Vixens team that featured Jamaican Kadie-Ann Dehaney who replaced Emily Mannix at goalkeeper late in the third quarter.

Australian Diamonds shooter Bassett led the way with 51 goals from 53 attempts for the Lightning.
