Frederick Dacres establishes new national record in men’s discus

Commonwealth champion Frederick Dacres established a new national record in the men’s discus event yesterday.

This after he set a new mark of 69.67 meters while winning the event at the Stockholm diamond league meeting in Sweden.

Dacres improved on his own national record of 68.88 metres, to achieve a new meet record and a world leading mark, as he rebounded from a sub-par performance last week in Oslo, Norway .

He also improved his season best effort of 68.51 meters.

The other Jamaican in the meet world championship gold medalist Danielle Williams set a new personal best of 12.48 seconds to finish second in the women’s 100 meters hurdles event.

The event was one by Brianna Mcneal of the United States who crossed the line in a world leading and meet record of 12.38 seconds.
