Freed alleged Clansman gang member to contemplate legal recourse against the gov’t

by May 26th, 2022

The attorney representing one of the alleged Clansman One Don Gang members, freed by the court today (May 26), has indicated that discussions will be held with his client later on as to what legal recourse, if any, he may pursue against the government.

Kymani Brydson is representing Owen Ormsby.

Mr. Ormbsy, along with co-accused, Damaine Elleston, Rushane Williams, and Renaldo Hylton were freed today after the prosecution said it did not have sufficient evidence against them.

Mr. Brydson told Irie Fm News, that the 3 accused were freed of all offences.

He commended the justice system for being fair.

Meantime, Defense Lawyer Lloyd Mcfarlane, who is representing alleged reputed leader of the Clansman One Don Gang, Andre Blackman Bryan is calling for his clients acquittal.

In court today, Mcfarlane asked Chief Justice Bryan Sykes to find that the prosecution did not ground its case against Bryan.

Additionally, other defense lawyers, Anna Kelly and Shannon Clarke, who are representing Kevaughn Green-the brother of Bryan, argued that green should be acquitted as well, because there is no evidence that he is a part of a criminal organization.

The submissions for acquittal come in the wake of 4 alleged members of the organisation being freed by the court.

No case submissions will continue when the trial resumes tomorrow (May 27).

Bryan and 32 coaccused persons were placed on trial in the Home Circuit Court in September last year.

They are charged with various offences under the Anti Gang Legislation.
