Gayle vs Bravo highlights T20 Global League opener

Explosive Jamaican opener Chris Gayle is one of three West Indians listed as marquee international players for the inaugural T20 Global League in South Africa.

Gayle, selected with the third pick, will represent the Cape Town Knight Riders where he will play alongside fellow West Indian Denesh Ramdin and South African international JP Duminy.

Other West Indians listed as marquee internationals were Dwayne Bravo (taken 5th by Pretoria Mavericks) and Kieron Pollard who was drafted with the number one overall pick by Bloem City Blazers where he is joined by Dwayne Smith and David Miller.

The list of contesting teams is completed by Jo’burg Giants, Durban Qalanders, Benoni Zalmi, Stellenbosch Monarchs and Nelson Mandela Bay Stars.

The T20 Global League will be played in eight cities across South Africa in November and December.

The League starts with the north-south derby between the Cape Town Knight Riders and the Pretoria Mavericks at Newlands on Friday, 3 November.

This will be followed by two double-headers on the Saturday and Sunday.

In all, five different venues will host the opening weekend of matches which will see all eight franchises in action.

There will be double-headers every weekend as well as several in midweek as the League holds 57 matches in the space of 44 action-packed days.
