The search for the young girl, who was washed away by flood waters in West Gate, Montego Bay, St. James, ended in tragedy, as her body was found near the wharf, yesterday (April 19) evening.

Her grandmother, who was also washed away, remains missing.

Bad weather and deteriorating conditions forced Firefighters, the Jamaica Defence Force, and the Marine Police, to call off the search, late last night.

Public Relations Officer at the Fire Brigade, Kerry Gayle Forbes said the search will resume today (April 20).

He said the authorities responded to two similar incidents, in St. James yesterday.

Mr. Forbes is again urging citizens to avoid flooded roadways.

He pointed out that a swift water rescue operation, can be challenging.
