Global batting superstar Chris Gayle leads a cast of five West Indians who have been retained to their various teams for the 2019 Indian Premier League season.

Gayle was retained by the king’s eleven Punjab, while the Kolkata Knight Riders have kept faith with his compatriot Andre Russell and Trinidadian Sunil Narine.

The Mumbai Indians retained the pair of batsman Evin Lewis and veteran all-rounder Kieron pollard.

Gayle has been retained for a little under us$160,000, but Russell continues to fetch a high price after being retained for more than us$650,000.

Narine was retained with an even bigger salary, with the mystery spinner attracting just under us$1 million.

Evin Lewis’ Indians contract is just under us$350,000, while pollard will earn nicely, keeping his place with the Indians for just over us$425,000.

Though well on the way to turning out for England rather than the ‘Windies, Barbados pacemen Jofra archer, raises the bar for retaining West Indian players, earning more than US$ half a million for his service to the Rajasthan Royals.
