Gold for Shashalee Forbes at World University Games

IAAF World Championship relay bronze medalists Shashalee Forbes struck gold this morning at the 29th World University Games in Chinese Taipe.

This after she won the women’s 100 meters in 11.18 seconds bettering her semi-final time of 11.22 seconds.

Second in the event was Irene Siragusa of Italy who had a season best 11.31 seconds, and Salome Kora of Switzerland who posted 11.33 seconds.

Another Jamaican in Dawnalee Loney formerly of balaclava high school failed to advance to the women’s 400 meters final.

This after she clocked 54.99 seconds in her semi-final which was only good enough for seventh place.

On the male side Tyqendo Tracey finished fourth in the men’s 100 metres final in 10.28 seconds. The event won by Chun-Han Yang of the Chinese Taipe in 10.22 seconds.

Swimmer Michael gunning who is based in England is the other Jamaican at the games.
