Opposition leader Mark Golding has welcomed the decision by the government, to not seek an extension of the state of emergency in st. Catherine.

He was reacting to an announcement by National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang in parliament, on Tuesday.

Mr. Golding said he is glad that the regulations are being reviewed, to make them compliant with the constitution.

Citing the need for the security forces to have adequate crime fighting tools, he called the house to complete the process, for the new enhanced security measures act.

He called for a Zone of Special Operation, ZOSO, to be implemented in various areas of the parish, where there are high levels of violence, to maintain law and order, until the new legislation is passed.
