The government has indicated that it will be placing special focus on mental health, this financial year.

The announcement was made by Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, while speaking at today’s (April 3), Thanksgiving Church Service for the new financial year, at the Boulevard Baptist Church in Kingston.

Dr. Tufton said along with the upgrading of the health system, via infrastructural improvements and other methods, great emphasis has to be placed on the mental health of citizens.

The minister reflected on the past two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that a number of joint efforts had to be made in the fight against the virus.

He called for such efforts to be continued and strengthened, to improve the mental state of citizens.
