by June 28th, 2022

Opposition Spokesperson on Justice, Senator Donna Scott Mottley says discussions between the Opposition and the Government are taking place after her Party wrote a letter to the Attorney General about the Emergency Powers Regulations.

The People’s National Party wrote to the Attorney General yesterday (June 27) outlining several concerns regarding the regulations, which govern the State of Public Emergency.

The matter was again brought to light after, an SOE was declared in St. Catherine, following a surge in violence in several sections of the parish, particularly, Spanish Town.

The regulations governing the measure were tabled in Parliament last week.

Speaking with IRIE FM news, Senator Scott Mottley said that based on the discussions stemming from the letter, she is confident that a resolution which pleases both the Opposition and the Government will be reached.
