Govt called on to make land ownership accessible for citizens

by August 18th, 2018

Programmes Director at Irie FM Ka’Bu Ma’at Kheru has called on the government to ensure that Jamaicans are given an opportunity to own land.

She stated that successive governments have been engaged in giving away large acreage of land to foreign investors, while disregarding the needs of local citizens.

Ka’Bu stated that the vision of Marcus Garvey was to have all Jamaicans own land and the most fitting way to pay tribute to Garvey, is to make lands available to people who are in need.

She was speaking at the commemoration of the one hundred and thirty first anniversary of the birth of Marcus Garvey, in St. Ann’s Bay, yesterday (Aug 17).

Ka’Bu argued that the colonial type of education on offer in Jamaica is one that limits knowledge of the facts.
