The government is moving to use the proceeds from the sale of forfeited and seized assets to improve the justice system.

Finance Minister Audley Shaw made the pronouncement, while addressing the opening of the Financial Investigations Division conference on crime this morning (Jan 31).

The FID is administering over $3 b dollars in restrained and forfeited property and assets.

He says the necessary funding and legal powers will be provided to take the profit out of crime.

Mr. Shaw says the FID will have more to say over its affairs similar to the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency.
