Cabinet has approved a contribution of $21 million towards the legal fees of 5 police officers who now have cases in court.

Speaking at today’s Post cabinet press briefing, Information Minister Fayval Williams said the cabinet also approved the setting up of an interim procedure for the management of legal expenses incurred by cops.

Mrs. Williams explained that the contribution to the cops’ legal fees is in keeping with an agreement between the government, and the police federation for help with legal costs for officers charged in relation to the execution of their duties.
