Education Minister Fayval Williams says the government will be ramping up its Specialist Teacher Programme across the nation’s primary schools come September.

Speaking at yesterday’s (August 3) Back to School Teachers’ Conference for Region 3, Minister Williams said a pilot of the programme has been successful and efforts would be made to expand it.

The Specialist Teacher programme came from a recent visit to Singapore which led to the takeaway that specialist teachers could impact the teaching learning process.

The Education Minister said about 200 schools will be participating in the programme.

Mathematics and Language Arts are the main areas to be targeted in the first instance.
