Govt urges police to accept 5% pay this month

The government has called on the Police Federation to accept the retroactive payment for the first year of a four year wage agreement.

The government has been locked in wage talks with the public sector groups for a four year wage deal.

Several groups have already signed off on the agreement with the teachers, police and nurses yet to sign off.

Finance Minister Audley Shaw says the teachers and the nurses have agreed to the retroactive payment for the first year of the agreement.

He added that the wage talks will not be adversely affected by the acceptance of the retroactive payments.

The Finance Minister says all public sector workers should see the payments in their March salaries.
