2022 Grammy eligibility period ends September 30

Some Dancehall and Reggae entertainers have approximately 13 days to release an album or EP, to be eligible for the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The 64th annual Grammy Awards are in 2022 and cover an eligibility period from September 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021.

Pending albums from some key Dancehall heavyweights include Bounty Killer’s ‘King of Kingston’, and Beenie Man’s ‘Simma’.

According to reports, Beenie Man’s album ‘Simma’ is already completed, but the entertainer and his team are waiting for a release date from VP Records.

Meanwhile, no release date has been announced for Bounty Killer’s highly anticipated ‘King of Kingston’, or Shenseea’s untitled debut album.

Nonetheless, some of the albums released within the Grammy time frame are Spice’s album Ten, Sean Paul’s Live and Livin, Charly Black’s EP ‘So Many Reasons’, Lt. Stitchie’s gospel album ‘Real Power’, I-Octane’s ‘Moods’, Jesse Royal’s ‘Royal’, Alkaline’s ‘Top Prize’, Etana’s ‘Pamoja’, Bugle’s ‘Toxicity, and Usain Bolt and NJ’s debut project, ‘Country Yutes’.

Other entertainers who have released an album or EP within the Grammy eligibility period from September 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021, are Cecile, Nature Ellis, Jo Mersa Marley, Jaz Elise, Pliers, and Richie Stephens with a collaborative project featuring his mom, Mama Carmen.

In May, the Recording Academy announced various changes to its nomination and awards process, which includes an end to the nomination review committees, and a reduction in the number of categories members can vote in.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on January 31, 2022, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
