Harbour View Primary leads after day two in INSPORTS Primary School Athletics ‘Champs’

Harbour View Primary leads the point’s standings at the end of day two in the Insports Primary School Athletics Championship being staged at the National Stadium.

The Fitroy Ball coached team leads the standings with 16 points followed by port Morant primary in second place with 13, followed by Lyssons on 11, with New Providence and Gregory Park tied in fourth place on 9 points each.

Defending Champion’s Naggoe Head and Kensington completes the top five on 7 points apiece.

Teddy Ann Arthur’s of new providence broke the lone record on the day after she won the girls 9-12 long jump event , establishing a new mark of 1.50 meters, to erase the previous best of 1.48 meters set back in in 2010 by Kashema carter of Naggoe head.

Second in the event was Kiara South of Kensington Primary 1.45 meters, while the bronze went to Samoya Ashbourne of Naggoe head 1.40 meters.

Harbour ViewTarrance Williams won the boys equivalent after leaping 4.77 metres, to get the better of the Port Morant pair of Ramnoroy brown and Roemar Bryan 4.75 and 4.72 metres respectively.

 Two record throws by Janiel Mignott gave Gregory Park their first point, as she twice eclipsed Deandre Haye’s 49.45 metres mark done in 2014, with a personal best and new championships record of 51.45 metres. Silver went to Sojona Gayle 47.16 metres, while Lyssons’ Rasheeda Samuels 44.98metres copped the bronze.

Eleven finals will be contested on the penultimate day, with the main highlight to come from the finals of the 200metres classes one and two for both girls and boys.
