Harden, Antetokounmpo & George shortlisted for NBA MVP award

Reigning NBA MVP James Harden of the Houston Rockets is one of three finalists shortlisted for the award for the 2018-2019 season.

Harden, who led the league in scoring with 36.1 points per game, is joined in the top three by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Antetokounmpo was shortlisted after leading the Bucks to a league-best 60 wins while ranked third in scoring at 27.7 points, 6th in rebounds (12.5) and 10th in blocked shots at 1.5 per game.

George meanwhile led the league in steals while putting up career numbers in points (28), rebounds (8.2) and assists (4.1) per game.

Both George and Antetokounmpo were also announced as finalists for Defensive Player of the Year, joining last year’s winner, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz, in the top three.

The winners will be revealed at the league’s annual awards show in Los Angeles on June 24.

Other awards to be handed out include Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man, Coach of the Year and Most Improved Player.
