Harry Belafonte, Bob Clarke, Yellowman, Grace Jones for National Honours

Several key players in the entertainment industry are set to receive National Honours from the Jamaican Government.

International singers Harry Belafonte and Grace Jones, dancehall veteran King Yellowman, Reggae Sumfest original member Johnny Gourzong, Barbara Blake-Hanna and IRIE FM’s veteran broadcaster Bob Clarke are some of the entertainment practitioners to be awarded.

International sensation Grace Jones will be awarded the order of Jamaica for her contribution to entertainment. While, internationally renowned singer, Harry Belafonte is to get the order of merit for outstanding contribution to music.

Bob Clarke, who is also one of the founders of reggae radio Irie FM, will receive the order of distinction in the rank of officer, for service to the entertainment industry, especially broadcasting.

King of the dancehall Yellowman, Johnny Gourzong, and Barbra Blake-Hanna will also receive the order of distinction, officer rank. Yellowman for his contribution to the Music Industry, Gourzong for his contribution to Entertainment and the Tourism industry, and Blake-Hanna for her contribution to Public Service in the field of Culture, and Cultural Heritage Preservation.

The awards will be presented on Heroes’ Day, October 15.
