by November 11th, 2015

Newly appointed Health Minister, Horace Dalley says a new reporting structure will be put in place, to ensure that the ministry is kept abreast of all the happenings in all the regions.

He stressed that the ministry’s head office must know, what is happening in all health regions across the country.

Mr Dalley adds that every hospital management team will be held accountable for things that occur under their stewardship.

This management team includes senior medical officers, administrators and chief executive officers among others.

Mr Dalley says he will also hold himself accountable, if he fails to implement the necessary policies within the sector.

Mr Dalley says he held a meeting yesterday (November 10) in which he warned members of staff outlining their individual responsibilities for which they must give an account.

He took over the reins of the health ministry on Monday (November 9).

Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, has instructed him to make every effort to correct the shortcomings in the health sector as quickly as possible.

She also expressed confidence in his ability to bring critical improvement to the health sector in short order, having served in that portfolio before.
