Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the current Covid-19 protocols are reaping rewards as the country has been seeing a decline in the Covid positivity rate in recent days.

Dr. Tufton noted that 511 new infections were recorded on Wednesday, September 8, with a positivity rate of 32.5 percent.

He said this represents a significant decline, from the over 50 percent positivity rate, the country recorded a few days before.

In the meantime, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie explained that the reproductive rate has also declined in recent days.

She noted that the aim is to reduce the rate from just over 1, down to last July’s figure of 0.3, or lower.
