Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton is again urging citizens to do all they can to protect themselves from Covid-19.

This as the country has been recording a high number of cases and hospitalizations, due to the fourth wave.

Speaking during a tour of the University Hospital of the West Indies in St. Andrew, Dr. Tufton said the hospital is under intense pressure, due to a spike in cases.

Yesterday (January 14), the UHWI advised patients to expect delays due to an increased number of Covid-19 infections and hospitalisation within the facility, because several departments including the field hospital are at capacity and 10 percent of the medical staff affected by the virus are off duty.

Dr. Tufton said persons must protect themselves from the virus, to reduce the possibility of hospitalization.
