Health Ministry begins offering Chinese Sinopharm vaccine

The Health Ministry has begun offering the Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine. Persons 18 years and older may now make an appointment to receive the first of two doses of that brand.

 

The Health Ministry says the vaccine which was donated by China last month, will be made available at select vaccination sites island-wide.

 

It says the Sinopharm vaccine has been proven safe and effective, in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death, associated with covid-19. The two-dose vaccine requires a period of three to four weeks, between doses.

 

Persons may make appointments via the ministry’s website or by calling the national vaccination call centre.

 

Meantime, Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais guy has welcomed the rollout of the vaccine.

 

 

Effective today (December 13, 2021), the Health Ministry began offering booster shots to persons 18 years and older, who have received a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

 

Also starting today, adults 60 years and older, and healthcare workers, are being given a booster dose, of the other COVID-19 vaccines.
